AUBURN – The Lewiston Jr. Maineiac Squirt White team wrapped up the 2007-2008 season with a respectable semifinal showing in the Tier III state tournament held at Ingersoll Arena last weekend.

White opened the tourney with a hard fought 2-1 win over host Auburn on Friday night. Zach Guimond and Owen McCarthy each had a goal and an assist for White. Andrew Loisel also contributed an assist. Branden Dyer was the lone scorer for Auburn.

That was followed by a 3-1 loss to Casco Bay on Saturday. Liam Benson scored the lone goal for White, assisted by Corinne Laberge. Goal scorers for Casco were Tom Gleason with two and Jack Drinan. Lewiston rebounded on Sunday with a 3-2 win over Central Maine White. The win propelled White into the semifinal round of the tournament. Loisel netted two of the goals for White, with McCarthy scoring the other. Guimond had one assist on the day.

In the semifinal game Sunday afternoon, White lost a heartbreaker to heavily favored Presque Isle, 3-1, despite the outstanding effort of goaltender Nick Hawk. Loisel scored the goal for White, assisted by McCarthy and Guimond. Goal scorers for Presque Isle were Joe Patenaude, Collin McKay and Alex Michaud.

White finished the year with an impressive 25-7-3 record. The White team consisted of Liam Benson, Jody Cabral, Bobby Chabot, Zach Guimond, Steve Hammerton, Nick Hawk, Corinne Laberge, Andrew Liosel, Eli McBride, Owen McCarthy, Chris Miller, Alex Morgan and Jacob Wall. They were coached by John McCarthy, Ray Champagne, Candice Hammerton and Scott Laberge.
