Easter services

RUMFORD – The Rumford United Methodist Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20. Pastor Kelley Harvell will lead a service of worship with the Rev. Ginger Snapp-Cunningham assisting.

Pat Dyke and Peggy Welch will sing a duet, accompanied by Jean Hersey at the organ. The following evening a Good Friday service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Rumford Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Harvell presiding. The public is invited to attend both services.

Easter morning will start with a joint community sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. in the Mountain Valley Junior High School parking lot in Mexico Breakfast will be served at the Mexico Green Church, and everyone will go to their own church for Easter worship services. The Easter worship for the Methodists will be at 8:30 a.m. in Rumford Center and 10:30 at the Virgin Chapel in Virginia.

Society to meet

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the Calvin Lyons meeting room in the Town Hall. It will begin with a potluck supper.

The February meeting was canceled due to a snowstorm. Officers are requesting a good turnout to discuss business matters.

At the January meeting it was voted to increase yearly dues, which are now due, to $7. Membership is open.

The re-opening of the museum is uncertain at this time due to water damage and repairs.
