PORTLAND (AP) – February was a record month for the Portland International Jetport.

The city’s transportation director, Jeff Monroe, says nearly 118,000 passengers passed through the airport last month, an increase of more than 23,000 from February 2007.

Monroe says the strong showing reflects the snowy winter that encouraged travel, along with affordable fares and local convenience.

The jetport drew more than 1.6 million passengers in 2007, a 17 percent increase that made it New England’s fastest growing airport in terms of passenger numbers.
