BETHEL – Each year, the Bethel Historical Society seeks nominations for its preservation award to recognize an outstanding effort of stewardship of a historic property in the region served by the society (particularly western Maine and northern New Hampshire).
The criteria may include age (at least 50), historical integrity, visual appropriateness, historical adaptive re-use or other special considerations.
Nominations should be received by the Historic Preservation Committee by Tuesday, April 15, and the award, if approved by the committee, will be announced during National Historic Preservation Week in May.
All work on projects to be considered for the award must be substantially complete in the judgment of the committee. The award consists of a certificate of commendation and the name(s) of the awardee(s) will be engraved on a plaque for permanent exhibition at the society’s Dr. Moses Mason House.
Members of the committee include Ken Bohr, 824-2913, chairman; Sally Taylor, 824-3270; Mary Valentine, 824-3235; and Walter Hatch, 824-3560. Nominations can also be forwarded to the society at 824-2908 or 1-800-824-2910.
