LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center is preparing for another Soiree Canadienne with music, food and fun beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 28. Patrons will feast on turkey, mashed potatoes, carrots, stuffing, cranberry sauce and strawberry shortcake – and dance to music provided by the Leblanc Family.

Fiddler Don Leblanc, his wife, Linda, and their children are carrying on a musical tradition that began with Don’s grandfather and father playing at barn dances in the 1930s. As his own family grew, Don taught Linda and each of the children how to play an instrument, while Linda taught them to sing in French. Jim plays guitar and bass; Jay plays guitar; and Jackie plays bass.

The Leblanc Family’s repertoire includes a lively variety of traditional reels, French folklore and country music. Performing with the family will be Nel Meservier on keyboard and Jerry Meservier on drums.

Admission is $12, $10 for seniors and students. For tickets, call the box office at 689-2000. The Franco center is at 46 Cedar St. For more information, visit www.francoamericanheritage.org.
