Fathers, daughters dance the night away

JAY – Record numbers of dads and their daughters turned out again this year for the 17th annual Father Daughter Dance at the Jay High School cafeteria.

Organizer Jennifer Hutchinson started early putting up twinkle lights and preparing food and drink for all those who would attend the yearly event.

The dancing got under way at 6 p.m. when DJ Chelsea Hutchinson spun her first tune and it didn’t stop until the last dance of the evening at 9. Photos were available by hosts, the Franklin County Children’s Task Force, and many dads and their girls posed while UMF Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega members snapped and printed shots.

“We knew it would be a record year for the dance as most sites for advanced ticket sales had to be restocked twice,” said task force director Renee Blanchet, “We’re actually thinking that next year maybe we should have a dance up in the northern part of Franklin County as well so more people can attend. This is one of those events that young girls remember for years to come, so we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy it.”

Anyone wishing to donate items or time to help plan the Franklin County Children’s Task Force event is welcome to call the office at 778-6960 for more information.
