Life-like

To celebrate African-American History Month, the fourth-grade students of Carmen Dufresne and Molly Dorner at Pettingill School in Lewiston researched and made posters of African-Americans who reflected a wide range of educational, artistic, historical and professional expertise. In addition, students wrote research papers on their chosen person, and presented an oral report to their classmates and their parents on a day of celebration Feb. 15. Nick Poland, left, with Garret Morgan, and Sierra Melanson, with Sojourner Truth, created the posters.
