LEWISTON – April classes have been announced at the Nutrition Center of Maine, Bates Street.

“Living Lactose Free”: Kay Mullin will review the signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance and ways to find relief. She will talk about meal preparation and finding enjoyment in other calcium rich foods that are dairy-free. Lactose-free snacks and recipes will be provided.

The class will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1. Cost is $12. To register, call 753-5466.

“Kids’ Kitchen”: Denise Dill, food and nutrition coordinator from Lots to Gardens at the Nutrition Center of Maine, will teach kids to cook. It is recommended for children age 8 and above. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

It will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3. Cost is $12 a child; adults, free. To register, call Lewiston Adult Education at 795-4141.

“Can Do Diabetes Cooking! Healthful Meal Planning Using Carb Counting”: Jean Rocap will instruct in preparing a healthful meal while reviewing the basics of carb counting for folks with diabetes, focusing on meal planning strategies.

The class will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m Thursday, April 22. Cost is $12. To register, call 753-5466.
