AUBURN – Comedians Ira Proctor and Joe Wong, both of whom perform regularly in Boston, will take to the stage Saturday, March 29, for Comedy Night at The Fireside Inn & Suites.

The show, which also includes host Sal Votano, continues the weekly winter comedy series at the Fireside Inn at 1777 Washington St.

Proctor’s everyman persona and funny material have helped him become the Boston winner of Sierra Mist’s “Next Great Comic Search” and a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival. He has appeared in Comedy Central’s “Laugh Riots” and has headlined at clubs and several colleges in the Northeast. He has appeared with numerous national acts, including Louis CK, Tracy Morgan, Steven Wright, The Steve Miller Band and The Beach Boys. Other industry credits include appearances on ABC’s “Inside Edition,” “Fox News,” “New England Cable News,” “NESN” and several radio shows. As an actor, he has appeared in commercials for Comedy Central, Diet Pepsi, Harvey Windows and Bob’s Stores.

The self-styled “All American Immigrant,” Wong has come a long way from rosy-eyed American newcomer to a comedian on the Boston comedy scene. Since his surprise finish in the finals at the 2003 Boston Comedy Festival, Wong has been one of the busiest comedians in New England, working at theaters, clubs, colleges and other venues. As a student in China, Wong was fascinated by the vibrant American culture and experienced it for the first time as a student at Rice University in Texas, where he wrote a popular humor column. Moving to Boston after graduation, he became an immediate stand-up success. He was also the star of “Joe Huang for President,” a funny short film that won a first place award at the 2003 Cambridge Fringe Fest. On his resume, under “other skills,” he notes that he speaks better English than President Hu (of China).

Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $14, $12 with a reservation. For tickets, call 777-1777, or check www.laughingmatterscomedy.com .

The series will take a break April 5, returning April 12 with Comedy Night producer Travis Wallace headlining his own show.
