CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Many home-schoolers in New Hampshire are opposing a plan to require parents to submit a curriculum plan before they begin educating their children at home.

Supporters say it’s a compromise that’s less stringent than what the state required until 2006 and would ensure that parents think about an education plan before withdrawing a child from public school.

Opponents said it would infringe on parents’ rights and called it an intimidating requirement that would scare off would-be home-schooling parents.

Turnout was so high for a hearing Wednesday, that it was moved to Representatives Hall to accommodate the crowd of a couple of hundred, mostly mothers and children.
