NORWAY – The Rape Education and Crisis Hotline will recognize national Sexual Assault Awareness Month with three Speak Out events beginning this Sunday.

The events will be held on April 13, at the First Universalist Church of Norway, on April 20, at the Bridgton Community Center in Bridgton, and on April 27, at the Mexico United Church of Christ. All events begin at 2 p.m.

The Speak Out forums aim to provide victims of sexual abuse “a safe and empowering place to share parts of their journey of healing through poetry, prose, music and arts,” according to a notice by the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

The events are open to the public, although they are not considered appropriate for children under the age of 16.

REACH, which was founded in 1982, offers free and confidential support programs for victims of sexual abuse as well as education programs for students.

For more information on the events, contact REACH at 743-9777 or director@reachmaine.org.
