PARIS – Popular Maine comic Bob Marley promises plenty of fresh material when he plays two shows Saturday, April 12, at the Four Seasons Function Center.

The shows are at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 739-2988 or go online to www.fourseasonsfc.com.

Marley is primed to entertain his western Maine audiences. “The minute you walk out there and see all those people, it’s like shame on you if you don’t deliver,” he said.

Marley spends weeks writing new material for his shows. He said his audiences particularly like his topical, local references. “We really hit the nerve of what’s going on. That’s why it’s so popular.”

A University of Maine at Farmington graduate who has been a professional comic for more than 17 years, Marley performs throughout the country. He uses biographical and observational material for his stand-up routines. Named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch,” he has also appeared in several films, including cult favorite “Boondock Saints.”

He is one of the few comics to do the complete late-night TV circuit. His first TV special, “Comedy Central Presents Bob Marley,” premiered last February. Marley said he is in discussions with Comedy Central for another special.

Marley is also working with a production company that will shoot him in concert and distribute a DVD nationally through Miramax, the film-production company. His newest CD, “Goin’ up the Faya,” was recorded from his sold-out performance last New Year’s Eve at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. It is his 13th CD release.

“We just keep turning them out,” he laughed.
