PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A man is recovering from hypothermia after his boat flipped in Narragansett Bay, forcing him to cling to a buoy before being rescued.

The accident happened late Wednesday night off Rocky Point in Warwick.

Neighbors say they heard a man crying for help and they alerted authorities.

Firefighters waded into the water and found the man several hundred yards off shore.

Authorities did not immediately release the victim’s name. Rescuers say his body temperate was in the low 80s. He was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital and was expected to survive.
