PARIS – A 23-year-old man accused of unlawful sexual contact and assault remained at the Oxford County Jail on Wednesday afternoon.

Stephen L. Damon of 127 High St., Apt. 4, in Paris was arrested Sunday after a report of a confrontation at a Western Avenue residence. According to a report by officer Raymond Paar of the Paris Police Department, a 27-year-old woman accused Damon of attacking her and a 25-year-old man who was in the home at the time.

Both the man and the woman were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway for treatment. According to the affidavit, the man had “severe injuries to his face,” while the woman suffered from a limp, a knot on her forehead and scratches.

The woman said Damon also threw a screwdriver at her and touched her sexually.

According to Paar’s report, Damon said he was not allowed to visit the woman’s home after pleading guilty to assaulting her in April. However, he said he and the woman continued to visit.

Damon denied touching the woman, and said he was attacked by her and the man when he arrived at the house to pick up a bag of clothing.

Damon had bail set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 surety Monday.
