GARDINER – Auditions for the Whatever Family Festival Waterfront Talent Show will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center.

All ages and talents are welcome to try out. Acts will be auditioned in the order of arrival; advance registration is not required. However, please call Johnson Hall to advise which day you will audition.

A limited number of acts will be chosen to perform in the talent show produced by Johnson Hall on the evening of June 21 in Gardiner Waterfront Park during the Celebrate Gardiner Festival, the kickoff for the Kennebec Chamber Whatever Family Festival.

Four cash prizes will be awarded: grand prize: $250; first and second place: $100 each; and a junior prize for participants 12 and younger, $100.

All audition applicants should bring their accompanying music, if required. Karaoke will not be allowed, so any CDs or tapes should have the music without words. Audition pieces should be presented complete with costumes and/or props. Bands, dancers and other kinds of performances are welcome as well.

No one will be accepted into the talent show without an audition. Those vying for a spot in the talent show must be amateurs; if you have ever earned a portion of your living from your talent, you will not be eligible.

Audition applications are available at Johnson Hall, 280 Water St., and can be downloaded from its Web site, www.johnsonhall.org. Applications are also available at the Gardiner Public Library and the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce in Augusta. Applications may be brought to the audition or filled out at the audition.
