POLAND – Camp Connor, a day camp owned and operated by the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA for youngsters ages 6 to 13, will soon open for its 42nd season.

The YMCA will also run a new Teen Leaders Camp for kids ages 14 to 16. The teen camp is based on the YMCA values of character development and is designed to provide teenagers with experiences that will enable them to build leadership skills. Participants will be involved in a variety of activities and have opportunities for exploration outside the camp setting.

Camp Connor, located on Lower Range Pond, includes a large playing field, beach, wooded areas, adventure island and a main lodge. The YMCA provides daily transportation at designated pick-up and drop-off points in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

Activities include archery, arts and crafts, boats and canoes, field trips, nature walks, overnights, youth sports, team building, swim lessons, free swim, theme weeks and special events.

Camp Connor will again be directed by Chris Shea, assisted by Louise Tirabassi, and will begin the week of June 23. Campers can sign up for any number of individual weeks or for the nine weeks. Enrollment is limited. Parent handbooks will be available upon registration.

An open house is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, to give tours of the facility and to meet the staff. For more information, stop by the YMCA, 62 Turner St., Auburn, call 795-4095 or visit www.alymca.com
