HEBRON – Voters backtracked on a decision made at the annual town meeting in March, voting last week to approve spending $35,000 to buy a used plow truck.
Selectman Jim Reid said 40 to 45 people attended a special town meeting on Thursday to decide how the town should proceed on purchasing a truck to replace one of three in the town’s fleet. Voters had the option of approving a used truck, a new truck or contracting services for $65,000 a year.
Reid said the town will be able to purchase a used truck for $28,000, the same amount the Budget Committee recommended be put toward the purchase from an escrow account.
At the annual town meeting, an article requesting $35,000 to outfit a state-owned truck was defeated.
