BUCKFIELD – The snack shack on the Buckfield Buccaneers ball field burned to the ground just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire Chief Steve Campbell said the fire is suspicious and the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified.

Campbell expects a fire investigator to be at the site by early Thursday.

Town Manager Glen Holmes said the snack shack was town property valued at around $4,000.

The shack was used by the football team and for other functions held at the ball field to raise funds.

It sold snacks and soft drinks.

The fire was called in by a youth in the village and Buckfield fire and rescue responded. The field is directly behind the Buckfield Fire Station.
