NORWAY – Frost Farm Gallery will hold a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 p.m. June 6 in the historic Frost farm, 272 Pikes Hill, The exhibit will feature photography, rustic framing and bent-twig furniture by Donald Gouin.

An educator, Gouin devoted nearly 35 years to coaching, teaching and administration, first at Paris High School and then in the schools of SAD 17. He has spent the 22 years since his retirement serving on the school board.

Gouin first became interested in rustic furniture while on an ice fishing trip to Moosehead Lake. At a hunting and fishing lodge an alder chair caught his eye, and he couldn’t wait to try his hand at a design of his own.

For a man who likes to keep busy, the hobby has been rewarding. Family and friends enjoy his alder and birch furniture, and rustic framed photographs of wildlife and landscapes.

The show will run through Saturday, June 28. For more information, call the gallery at 743-8041.

First Friday Artwalk exhibits at Frost Farm Gallery are in conjunction with Matolcsy Art Center, Commons Art Collective, Norway Memorial Library, McLaughlin Garden, Painted Mermaid Gallery and My Studio.
