OGUNQUIT – Renowned comedienne Paul Poundstone will headline Jonathan’s Restaurant in Ogunquit July 4-5. Considered one of the foremost stand-up comics working today, Poundstone is known for her spontaneous wit and candid interactions with audience members – talents that make her a popular panelist on NPR’s “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!,” the Peabody Award-winning series featuring some of the nation’s leading pundits.

The comic is working on her second book for Random House. Her first, “There’s Nothing In This Book That I Meant To Say,” with a forward by friend Mary Tyler Moore, is out in paperback after a year of successful hardcover sales.

She is national spokesperson for Friends of Libraries USA, a citizens support group with more than 3,500 chapters across the country that help raise funds for childrens’ summer reading programs and special events.

Poundstone was the first female to be invited to entertain at the prestigious White House Correspondents Dinner and the first woman to win the Cable ACE for Best Standup Comedy Special. She is also an Emmy winner for Best Program Interviewer, and American Comedy Award winner for Funniest Comedienne.

Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets are $32.50 at www.jonathansrestaurant.com or by calling 646-4777. Jonathan’s Restaurant is at 92 Bourne Lane.
