LISBON FALLS – Karate Kids-USA Martial Arts Institute Inc. opened May 5 at 501 Lisbon Road to provide martial arts training to children ages 3-18 and to adults, to instill kindness, integrity, discipline and self-esteem through karate and life-skills training.

There are specially designed karate life-skill programs for various age participants.

Karate Kids-USA also offers year-round child care and karate training in after-school and summer camp programs. The staff hosts training at the center, at day cares, private schools and can augment public school physical education programs.

Karate Kids-USA teaches the Japanese style of Shotokan karate and looks to inspire students to be helpful members of their community, while preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Co-founder and senior instructor Sensei Greydon Lewis of Brunswick is a 2nd degree black belt, with more than 40 years of training in the marital arts. Lewis is certified through the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association.

Co-founder and director of operations Michael Alvarez is a retired U.S. Army Intelligence Officer. He and Lewis were both in the 82nd Airborne and offer a whole-family martial arts school.

Karate Kids-USA is a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Arts, and the oldest American martial arts teaching association, called AIKIA.
