KINGFIELD – The summer exhibition series at Stadler Gallery will continue with work by Shawn O’Connor of Ithaca, N.Y., and Ellen Roberts of Farmington.

Currently enrolled in the master of fine arts program at Syracuse University, O’Connor will show his recent ceramic work. Having lived in rural Maine all his life, he has developed a strong appreciation and awareness of the natural beauty of his surrounding – which has guided his choices to emulate and explore subtle elements of nature.

The quiet, serene and harmonious qualities of soft satin flower petals, water flowing over smoothed river rocks and fresh snowfall blankets are reflected in the delicate forms and exquisite surface texture of his ceramics. Function and beauty are combined to create a unique subtlety of the final product.

In her installation “Fast Fiber,” Roberts explores printing layers of fibrous patterns that reflect the environment. Her colorful new work includes 12-foot original hangings of multiple monotypes, interspersed with smaller prints. Lively suspended cut-outs playfully transform the interior space of the gallery. Utilizing the monotype printmaking process, Roberts creates a visual experience of large splashes of color.

Works by both artists will be on view from July 1 through July 31. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13.

Stadler Gallery is open daily from noon to 4 p.m. and by appointment. For more information, log on to www.stadlergallery.com.
