ANDOVER – The Ellis River Riders horse club will offer a weekend of fun Saturday and Sunday, July 5-6. Saturday is equine demo day, with demonstrations of natural horsemanship, animal communication, equine massage, dressage riding, roping and more, beginning at 10 a.m. Many breeds, some with history, will be featured.

Vendors will be on site and are not limited to horse-related items. There will be an apple pie contest, and children’s games and pony rides will be offered throughout the day. The food booth will be open from breakfast through lunch with numerous picnic tables in the sun or under the pavilion. Spectators are welcome. Admission is free.

At 6 p.m., there will be a public barbecue with smoked baby back ribs and chicken, summer salads, bean hole beans, dessert and beverages. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under.

Sunday will be an all day Gymkhana (all games) horse show, beginning at 9 a.m. Horses will race in fast games timed electronically to the thousandth of a second. Admission is free for spectators. Bleacher seating is provided, and food will be served all day.

Club grounds are on Airport Road, just off Route 5, south of Andover village. Look for a big yellow banner on the main road. For more information, visit www.ellisriverriders.com or call Sandy at 890-6990 or Lainie at 562-9993.
