ANDOVER – At Tuesday night’s selectmen’s meeting, former selectman Wayne Delano was appointed as the town’s Med-Care Ambulance board representative.

Delano, who was given a three-year term, replaces fire Chief Ken Dixon.

Selectmen Hope Peterson and Susan Merrow also modified the special town meeting times on Thursday, July 17, in the town hall.

At that meeting, voters will choose two people to fill the remaining 20-month term of Peterson and 8 months of board Chairman Jeff Rainey.

Rainey and Peterson resigned last month, although Peterson agreed to stay and help Merrow conduct town business until July 17.

Peterson said Wednesday afternoon by phone that a moderator will be chosen at 3 p.m. on July 17, but the bulk of the meeting will be secret ballot voting from 4 to 8 p.m. Selectman candidates are Fred Detheridge, Brenda Stickney, Donna Libby, Danny Wells, Mark Thurston and Trudy Akers.

“We don’t want 100 people standing around at 3 o’clock waiting to vote at 4 o’clock,” Peterson said.

Absentee ballots will be made available by Town Clerk Elaine Morton.
