LEWISTON – The Lewiston CareerCenter announces the July workshop schedule and speakers for the Unemployed Professionals Group.

The Lewiston/Auburn Area Unemployed Professional Group provides support, resources, and networking opportunities for unemployed and underemployed professionals while providing employers with a valuable talent pool from which to recruit and hire.

Upcoming program topics are:

July 7, “Weathering unemployment: Lessons learned/best practices,” with speaker Cher Tyra of the Western Maine Community Action/Lewiston CareerCenter.

July 14, “Utilizing a staffing agency during job search,” with Lisa Perrin of Bonney Staffing in Auburn.

July 21, “Open forum/your time.”

July 28, “Staying motivated during your job search,” with Mary LaFontaine, DOL, Lewiston CareerCenter

Registration is not required for the Unemployed Professionals Group.

There is a new workshop, “Job Search Skills.” It will be offered every other week to help people who have not conducted a job search in recent years. Many things have changed about job search. The workshop will help people learn how to conduct an effective job search. The workshop will explore how employers hire and methods that lead to success.

Other workshops offered at the CareerCenter include: Career Decision Making; On-Line Applications, Interviewing Skills, and Writing a Resume.
