LISBON – The fourth in a series of summer guided bird walks conducted by the Stanton Bird Club will be held at Beaver Park on Wednesday, July 16. The seven-event series is taking place every other Wednesday at a variety of diverse local habitats and is free and open to the public.

Walks are being led by Stan and Joan DeOrsey, who identify and comment on birds seen or heard. At this time of year, walkers can expect to see woodland species such as warblers, sparrows, chickadees and woodpeckers. On an earlier trip in May, the group spotted a scarlet tanager and saw lady slipper flowers.

Those interested should meet at the Promenade Mall, 855 Lisbon St., Lewiston, parking lot in front of Staples at 8 a.m. The group will be at the walk site at approximately 8:20. Walks will end by 11 a.m., but participants may leave early. If it is raining at 1 a.m. and predicted to continue through 10, the walk will be canceled.

Walks are approximately two miles on an even and relatively dry surface. For more information, contact trip leaders Stan or Joan DeOrsey at 933-2266 or e-mail jsmdaatt.net.

The next summer guided bird walks will be on Wednesday, July 30, at Packard-Littlefield Farm in Lisbon, and Wednesday, Aug. 13, at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
