LEWISTON – Canadian organist Michele Quintal will give a concert at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 16.

Quintal received her musical training at the Quebec Conservatory of Music in Montreal, at the Geneva Conservatory and at the Vienna Academy of Music in Austria. She was privileged to study organ with Bernard Legacy, Lineal Rogue and Antonio Heeler and harpsichord with Kenneth Giblet and Isolate Ahlgrim.

She was awarded diplomas in piano and organ by the Quebec Academy of Music, a first prize in organ by the Montreal Conservatory of Music and an organ diploma with “honours” by the Vienna Academy of Music.

From 1966 to 1970, Quintal received grants from the Quebec Ministry of Education and the Canada Council for the Arts. From 1971 to 2000, she taught at the Quebec Conservatories of Music particularly in Trois-Rivières. She has been a jury member for organ examinations throughout Quebec and has performed for the French network of the CBC and for various concert societies, including the FFAO 1991 Convention, the FQAO 1995 Convention and the Organ Historical Society 1999 Convention, as well as in France and Switzerland.

She recorded “Orgue en Mauricie,” featuring organ works by former Basilica organist Bernard Piché and Raymond Daveluy.
