George Segalos was tried for search and seizure in the Lewiston municipal court Monday, and was held for the supreme court under $700 bonds. Sturgis Deputy Beaulieu testified that he saw Segalos empty beer from a can into the sink at his restaurant. Segalos said he was washing out the can and it had contained no beer. H. E. Holmes, esq. defended Segalos and City Solicitor Hines represented the State.

50 years ago, 1958

The Lewiston-Auburn Maine Aero Club will sponsor a dinner flight Sunday to the Bar Harbor Airport. The flight, to be staged in conjunction with the Eastern Maine Aero Club of Brewer, will leave at 10 a.m. with a lobster dinner to be served at Bar Harbor when the flyers arrive. Robert Lever of Lewiston, local president, is in charge of arrangements. The group will leave from the L.A. Airport and Twitchell’s Airport at Turner.

25 years ago, 1983

Two Lewiston natives have received administrative promotions at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Gerald Morin, personnel director at the Marcotte Nursing Home for the past 15 years, will now serve as director of human resources for both the Marcotte Home and SMGH in Lewiston, overseeing nearly 1,300 employees. He replaces former director of human services George Spino, who now acts as assistant administrator for both human resources and marketing at SMGH.

Diane Poulin Halstead, formerly assistant director of planning, has been appointed SMGH’s director of marketing. She has been on the hospital staff for more than four years.
