HELLERTOWN, Pa. – Blue-bodied, green-feathered, fan-tailed peacocks ranging in the wrong yards have brought police to their owner Carson Hart’s house six times so far this year, police said.
The officer responding to the latest call of a free-roaming bird decided to cite Hart for his birds being a nuisance, Chief Guy Lesser said.
Lesser said the officer cited Hart because of the number of calls regarding the peacocks this year. He said the birds have been a problem in the past but not to this degree.
Township police marshaled loose peacocks Jan. 10 and 11, May 10, 13 and 18, and again on Monday.
Hart’s neighbor, Laurie Berkheimer, who called police Monday, declined to comment.
No one answered the phone at Hart’s address and the property is pasted with numerous “no trespassing” signs.
No peacocks were visible from the street.
