BETHEL – An educator who was named Vermont’s middle school principal of the year in 2005 will become the new principal of Telstar Middle School.

Sandra Schroeder, who previously served as principal at Enosburg Falls Middle School in Enosburg Falls, Vt., was hired by SAD 44 directors to a two-year contract as of Aug. 1. She replaces Principal Russell Tornrose, who retired.

Directors also elected Sid Pew of Andover as school board chairman and hired Kimberly Tyler on a one-year probationary contract to teach kindergarten and first grade at Andover Elementary School.

The board authorized the administration to design a cooperative education program at Telstar High School and directed them to report back to the board on Aug. 11.
