RUMFORD – Maya Best, LCSW, has returned to Swift River Health Care, 430 Franklin St., after spending several years in private practice, and doing per diem work for Tri-County Mental Health Services. She earned her master’s in social work from the University of New England in Biddeford.

Best works with all age groups and particularly enjoys working with children. She is an eye movement desensitization and reprocessing practitioner. That therapy works well with trauma victims and those with difficult-to-resolve issues. Her referrals come from primary care providers at Swift River, the Elsemore Dixfield Center and River Valley Internal Medicine.

Best lives with her family in Greenwood. She enjoys singing and playing the guitar and drums. She is also an artist and paints abstract landscapes on handmade paper. She uses a creative approach to therapy, incorporating writing, art and sand tray therapies in her work.
