Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met July 18 in the Fare Share Building, Main Street, when a five-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Adele Bendes and Richard Balian; third, Pat Quinn and John Bravo. Finishing first in Flight B were Carol Curran and Suzanne Andrews; second, Marilyn and Richard Canton.

A game will be held same time and place on Friday, July 25. A partner is guaranteed, and all bridge players are invited.

Sunday worship

PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris, will hold 9 a.m. worship on Sunday, July 27, to observe the 11th Sunday after Pentecost. The service will be followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship. A Bible study group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30.

Garden club

BUCKFIELD – The Buckfield Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the garden of Pat Leslie, 1 Bean St. Members will drive to 67 Sodom Road to see the garden of Diane Brown and have light refreshments. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 336-3836.

Book sale

WEST PARIS – The Friends of the West Paris Library will sponsor the annual used book sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, rain or shine. The library will be open the regular Saturday hours of 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

On the same day, the Friends will host a signing by Barbara Payne of her book, “Behind Closed Doors.” Payne will be in the library from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Guest speakers

PARIS – First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris, will hold worship at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 27. Don Mayberry, church pastor, is inviting a variety of guests over the summer to take part in informal sermons that he is calling “Conversations of Faith.”

This Sunday, Deb Anthony, executive director of the Progress Center in Norway, will be a guest. Special music will be provided by Act V, the vocal trio made up of Jeanie Stone, Sally Jones and Bob Elliott.

If unable to attend, the services are broadcast live on AM 1450 and AM 780. The church is handicapped-accessible and organized activities for children are provided. For more information, contact the church at 743-2437.
