Captive Elements Art House will showcase an eclectic blend of resident artists plus three new local artists: blacksmith Hunter Matthews, photographer Katrina Kent and painter Kate Cargile. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 25. Originally from Kentucky, Matthews migrated to Auburn’s New England School of Metalwork to continue his love affair with shaping metal. He is now NESM’s first artist-in-residence, where he now teaches. Kent enjoys finding her subject matter in landscapes and especially people. A Lewiston native, Cargile shrinks everyday life down to an intimate canvas with her colorful paintings. Justin Labbe will provide music at the reception. Captive Elements Art House is at 25 Landry Road.
