LEWISTON – Planning Board members will be asked to review plans for a new McDonald’s restaurant Monday night.

The 3,696-square-foot restaurant is planned for the parking lot of the former Shaw’s shopping plaza on Lisbon Street, now occupied by the Dollar Tree and Chapter 11 discounters. Goodwill and Mulligan’s golf pub are nearby.

Blueprints for the project show the 74-seat restaurant sited against the berm that runs parallel to Lisbon Street, with the former Shaw’s plaza perpendicular to the eatery. No significant traffic improvements are anticipated, according to the plans.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall, if the board grants its approval.

To accommodate the loss of parking spaces for the retailers already there, the project’s developer, McDonald’s U.S.A., intends to build another 111 parking spaces between Goodwill and Dollar Tree. The entire plaza, owned by developer Dave Gendron, spans about 10 acres.
