PORTLAND (AP) – Fans who wanted a glimpse of Red Sox slugger David Ortiz at Double A-Portland had to deal with a two-hour rain delay and later another delay -when a skunk scurried onto the field.

Ortiz left the game the inning before a skunk scampered into right field in the middle of the fourth, sending a collective “Oooh!” through the stands during last night’s game. Next, the skunk headed for the picnic area, sending fans scurrying away.

The game between the Portland Sea Dogs and Connecticut Defenders resumed after the skunk crawled off the field and into a hole where he remained.

There was no winner in the game, which was suspended due to rain.
