MEXICO – The Rumford Public Library’s Children’s Theatre group has been preparing since early June for the Thursday, July 31, presentation of “Re-Elect Prince Charming.” The show, a funny political thriller, was written by Nancy O. DeMilner Demings especially for the library’s summer program.

Prince Charming thinks his re-election will be a slam dunk. As it turns out, some of the princesses have issues and decide to support and run their own candidates for the Prince Charming job. When some not very competent evil queens and a wicked witch show up to curse the debate, every vote is needed to save the future of Fairytale Kingdom.

Major roles will be performed by Chelsea DeRoehn, Nathan Fitzpatrick, Melissa Frank, Addy Gorham, Ciara Keene, Lea Nolette, Morgan O’Neil-Gordon, Noah Tanguay-Collins, Christa Vattes, Cam Welch, Brooke Young and Erich Zurhorst. The cast also includes several other young actors who appear as townspeople or as members of the town chorus or unicorn chorus, who sing and dance. Many cast members are veteran Children’s Theatre performers, while several of the younger children are new to the program this year.

The matinee show will begin at 3 p.m. with an evening performance at 6:30 at the Mountain Valley Middle School. The shows are free and for all ages.
