Livermore to celebrate 213th year at party
LIVERMORE – Livermore’s annual Birthday Party, to be held Friday evening, Aug. 1, will feature a birthday cake, storytelling, lighted decorations and a boat parade on Long Pond. Livermore turned 213 years old in February.
Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at the North Livermore Baptist Church. A variety of treats, including birthday cake and punch, will be served in the basement. The refreshment time will honor Livermore’s famous storyteller, Billie Gammon, who is celebrating 92 years July 31.
At 7 p.m. a storytelling session will be held. Gammon will share a variety of stories from her forthcoming book, “Still No Flies on Bill.”
About 9 p.m. a power boat parade will begin at the southern end of Long Pond, proceed north and end near the public boat ramp on Route 4. Property owners within view of Long Pond are invited to hang out lights as part of the festivities. In case of rain, the boat parade will be held Saturday about 9 p.m.
