BLUE HILL (AP) – Blue Hill Memorial Hospital has been closed because of a flood in the basement, forcing the evacuation of nine patients.

A hospital official says the flooding was caused by the high tide combined with heavy rainfall Sunday. The hospital is due to reopen Tuesday morning.

The flooding was contained to the basement and no patient rooms were affected, but the hospital was no longer able to serve food and officials were concerned about possible water contamination. Nine patients, including one emergency patient, were taken to other hospitals.

A medical office building across the street from the hospital’s main building was also closed.
