Agriculture program

RUMFORD – A presentation on “Sustainable Agriculture” and “Threats to Agriculture” will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the Rumford Auditorium, 145 Congress St. The presentation will last approximately an hour.

The presenter will be Floyd Horn, CEO of Centaur Security Solutions, a bio-security company that focuses on food safety. He is a former administrator of the USDA Agricultural Research Service and also the former Undersecretary of Agriculture under President Bill Clinton.

Noting anniversary

RUMFORD – Fr. Angelo’s 25th anniversary will be celebrated Sunday, Aug. 10, at St. Athanasius St. John’s Parish Hall. A reception will be held following the 9:30 a.m. Mass. All are welcome.

Seniors to picnic

HANOVER – The Bethel Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, for a picnic at Stoney Brook Campground. Members will bring either a salad or dessert to share.

Grange supper

BETHEL – A public supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Alder River Grange, East Bethel. Menu will include lasagna, tossed salad, coleslaw, sweet and sour meatballs, gelatin salad, rolls and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 13.
