LEWISTON – The energetic Jason Spooner Trio will liven up Fountain Park at noon Thursday, Aug. 14, as part of L/A Arts’ Music in the Parks concert series.

Making up the band are prolific singer/songwriter Jason Spooner who has heavy roots, folk and blues influences; classically trained bassist Adam Frederick with foundations in jazz and a knack for serious pocket grooves; and rock-solid drummer Reed Chambers with roots in funk, soul and reggae.

The trio has received numerous accolades. Spooner himself has won the 2007 Mountain Stage New Song contest and was a national finalist in the 2007 Starbucks Music Makers Competition. Spooner’s song “Pickup Truck” has aired on NPR’s “Car Talk” radio program, and a recent episode of “FoodNation with Bobby Flay” on the Food Network featured song clips and performances by the Jason Spooner Trio.

On a more regional level, Spooner has either won or been nominated for the Best Singer/Songwriter title in the Portland Phoenix’s annual Best Music Poll issue for the last five years.

The outdoor concert is free. Fountain Park is on Mill Street, next to Davinci’s restaurant in the Bates Mill complex. Rain location: the Franco-American Heritage Center on Cedar Street; same date and time.
