NEWRY – Chad Westleigh of Poland was awarded a scholarship by the Maine Innkeeper’s Association Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association, at a dinner at the Grand Summit Hotel in Newry, announced Executive Director Greg Dugal.

The scholarship dinner was part of the fourth annual Tees and Textbooks event which combined the awards night and a Hospitality Golf Classic the following day. The scholarship program was initiated to encourage and support Maine students pursuing hospitality careers.

Westleigh, who attends Johnson and Wales University in Providence R.I., was awarded a scholarship for $500 named for Charlie Keegan, past president of Maine Innkeeper’s Association and a former “Innkeeper of the Year” recipient.

Westleigh said he developed a love of culinary arts through his family’s penchant for celebrations centered around food. Westleigh runs a co-op at Harraseeket.
