LEWISTON – Robert H. Bernard of Gorham, was elected state commander for 2008-2009 at the 88th annual convention of the Department of Maine Veterans of Foreign Wars held June 13, 14 and 15 at the Ramada Inn.

Bernard is a life member of the Deering VFW Post 6859 in Portland and a past post commander and past District 10 commander. His theme for this year is “Honoring Maine’s veterans.”

Bernard invites all veterans to join a VFW post near them and help to honor all Maine’s veterans as well.
