NEW GLOUCESTER – For the second consecutive year, the Pineland Farms Creamery captured an American Cheese Society first place award at the 2008 national cheese competition in Chicago, held July 25.

Pineland Farms’ Monterey Jack cheese received the blue ribbon as the top cheese in its category. Pineland Farms Creamery received two ribbons at the competition in 2007.

According to the ACS, some 181 producers from 30 states and Canada entered a record 1,149 cheeses and cultured dairy products this year for judging, making it the largest cheese competition in North America.

Pineland Farms Creamery makes Monterey Jack, cheddar, Colby Jack, feta and baby Swiss cheeses, and plans to expand as demand dictates.
