AUGUSTA (AP) – Maine has new business regulation and public utilities commissioners.

Anne Head of Yarmouth was sworn in Friday as commissioner of the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation.

The agency oversees insurance, banking and credit regulation and professional licensing. Head has been serving as acting commissioner.

Gov. John Baldacci on Thursday also swore in Jack Cashman of Brewer as a Public Utilities Commissioner. The three-member PUC deals with one of the biggest issues in the state – energy costs.

Cashman, a former Baldacci top aide, replaces Kurt Adams, who left the PUC in May. Cashman will complete Adams’ term which expires in 2011.
