WILTON – The Rev. Dr. Roy E. Pike and Shirley E. Hammond Pike, both natives of Maine and former residents of Wilton, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by Florence Pike and family with more than 75 people in attendance on July 20 at the Wilton United Methodist Church, where the couple was married on Feb. 8, 1958.

They summer at Brettuns Pond and spend the winter in Jenks, Okla.

The Pikes have two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Their son, the Rev. Michael Pike and wife, Mickey, were also honored that day for their 25th wedding anniversary and reside with son, Jonathan, and daughter, Hannah, in Exeter, N.H. The Pikes’ daughter, Dawn Pike Waterhouse and husband, Chris, reside in Jenks, Okla., with their son, Brian. The Pikes’ granddaughter, Kim Ramos and husband, Miguel, reside in Tulsa with their two sons, Josiah, age four, and Gabriel, age one.

Dr. Pike retired from the United Methodist Church after 40 years of pastoral service, and he and his wife have contributed significantly to each community they served. The Pikes moved to Jenks in 1981 to work for Oral Roberts Ministries and City of Faith. Dr. Pike ministered at Orland, East Bucksport, Calais and Thornton Heights of South Portland. The couple also served churches in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Dr. Pike spent six and-a-half years as an air traffic controller in the Air Force and Mrs. Pike was office manager of the Oral Roberts University Campus Bookstore and director of the Chamber of Commerce in Bristow, Okla.

Dr. Pike is the son of Florence Wells Pike of Dryden and the late W. Stanley Pike. Mrs. Pike is the daughter of Lucile Berry Hammond (Mrs. Eugene) Bradbury of Berry’s Mills, now of Winter Haven, Fla., and the late Durward Hammond.

Out-of-town guests were from Auburn, Calais, Carthage, Dixfield, Farmington, Jay, Lewiston, Livermore, Monmouth, New Hampshire, South Portland and Wayne.
