CASCO – The Additon family held its 78th reunion Aug. 10 at the Sebago State Park. Those attending are descendants of Thomas and Anna (Beals) Additon, who married in Leeds in 1821.
Four persons in attendance over age 90 were recognized. They were Harold Meade of Bridgton, 95; Arland Meade of Bartow, Florida, 92; Marion Additon, Leeds, 91; and Merrill Bradford, Bangor, 91. The youngest was Robert Connor Quint, five weeks, daughter of Robert and Koriahn Quint of Wells.
Marcia Troyer of Boulder, Colo., came from the farthest distance. Other states represented were Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Family members reported 10 marriages and four births. Resolutions were adopted in memory of Margaret Spencer of Hampden and Portland, Jean Longstreth of Athens, Geo., and St. Augustine, Fla.; and Clarkson Addis of Birchrunville, Penn.
Lorri Pelletier of Greene presided at the business meeting. Officers elected for 2009 are: Barry Mower of Manchester, president; Douglas Hodgkin of Lewiston, vice president; Mary Barrows of Wells, secretary; Timothy Ellsworth of Topsham, treasurer. On the Finance Committee is Jeffrey Meade of Amherst, N.H.
The Resolutions Committee for 2009 is Valerie Trantanella of Westford, Mass., and Martha Tebbets of Lisbon. Members of the Scholarship Committee are Lynn Bradford Silva of Cape Elizabeth; Errol and Kathy Additon of Leeds; and Jeffrey and Sara Meade of Amherst, N.H.
After the potluck dinner and the business meeting, Russell Meade of Byfield, Mass., supervised games for the children. Nathan Mao of Topsham won the raffle for a homemade quilt.
