Lonestar, the pop country band voted Vocal Group of the Year in 2001 by the Country Music Association, will take the stage Saturday, Aug. 30, in Discovery Park in Freeport as part of L.L. Bean’s 2008 Summer Concert Series. The band debuted on the Billboard country music charts in 1995 with its Top 10 single “Tequila Talkin’.” Since then, the group has released more than two dozen singles on the country charts, with nine reaching No. 1. Lonestar’s biggest crossover hit was 1999’s “Amazed.” Also among the band’s hits are “I’m Already There,” “Mr. Mom,” “My Front Porch Looking In,” “What About Now,” and “Runnin’ Away With My Heart.” Lonestar members are Cody Collins, lead vocals; Dean Sams, keyboards and vocals; Keech Rainwater, drums and percussion; and Michael Britt, lead guitar and vocals. The free outdoor concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., weather-permitting. Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs.
