Guild birthday
PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will hold its birthday celebration at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris. It will be a catered luncheon. Members should bring hats and mittens for the Oxford fair exhibit.
Senior days
OXFORD – Senior card days will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Oxford Community Building, King Street. For more information, contact Eddie or Connie Lyons at 539-4345 or 739-9407.
Fun day set
NORTH WATERFORD – A fun day-play day will be held beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the North Waterford Fairgrounds, Green Street. There will be a horse demonstration, kids games, wagon and pony rides.
The cook shack will be open, with breakfast available along with cotton candy and ice cream. A pig roast will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Cost will be $7 a person.
The Ridge Riders will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight. Cost will be $10 a person. For more information, call Penny Hill at 583-4160.
Sunshine supper
CASCO – The Sunshine Club of Webbs Mills will hold its first supper of the season from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Cresent Lake Community Hall, Route 11, Webbs Mills. Menu includes homebaked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, American chop suey, bread, beverage and pie. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children.
Free workshop
PARIS – A free goal-setting workshop will be offered by Maine Center for Women, Work and Community at the Western Maine University and Community College from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Coordinator Elaine Dunton is available for drop-in hours at the Western Maine University on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon or by appointment.

AARP speaker
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Sept. 8, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris.
A stuffed porkchop luncheon will be served at noon. Cost is $6.50. Reservations are required by calling Thelma at 743-6124 by noon on Friday, Sept. 5.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. followed by Brad Kaherl, Central Maine Power, speaking about electrical safety. This is an AARP public service program and is open to the public as well as the luncheon with reservations.
