La Rencontre begins season

LEWISTON – Friday, Sept. 5, marks the beginning of a new season for the monthly gathering of La Rencontre at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.

The French-speaking group meets for lunch and a musical program every month, based on a mission of preserving and passing on the French language, heritage, customs and traditions. Attendees are encouraged to speak only French for the two hours.

This month’s menu will be a choice of lobster roll or chicken salad sandwiches, pasta salad, chips, dessert and beverage. The cost is $7 a person.

Paul Farrell and the Silvertones will provide entertainment along with a half hour of French comic clips.
