Seniors to meet
AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the American Legion hall on Washington Street. The move is necessary because of work being done to the floor at the Recreation Department.
Tickets will be on sale for the chicken dinner to held at the Rec. Dept. on Sept. 17 for $4. There will be the monthly raffle table. Following a bag lunch, bingo will be played.
On Aug. 20, a day of food, games and bingo was shared with New Auburn Seniors at the Rec. Dept.
Fellowship lunch
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch.
All interested widows in the area are invited.
Friends Night
WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 322 Centre Road on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to celebrate Friends Night with a 6:15 p.m. ESTARL supper.
Lakeside will provide the main dish, Pioneer Chapter of Lisbon Falls the salads, and Pine Cone of Auburn, the desserts.
The Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership are open to any second-year student in the religious field. The scholarship is unique to the Order of the Eastern Star. It benefits members and nonmembers alike.
Jeri Holt, General Grand Chapter committee member and past grand matron of Maine, will be the guest. She will speak briefly.
A meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.
Concepts meeting
AUBURN – Community Concepts Inc. will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments building at 125 Manley Road. For more information, call 739-6564.
Parental support
LEWISTON – Advocates for Children and Children with Special Health Care Needs will host an informal meeting for parents of children with special health needs of any kind.
The parent support group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the B Street Community Center, Room B (second floor), 57 Birch St. For more information, call 783-3990.
Swingin’ Bears
PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will begin its 2008-2009 season from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, South Paris.
Chris Pinkham will call mainstream and plus level for the square dancing. Mark Ward will cue the round dancing. Refreshments will be offered at intermission. Admission is $6 a person. Nondancers are invited to watch at no charge.
Square Dance Fun Nite, to introduce those looking for a way to relax, to meet new friends and exercise, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Oxford Hills Middle School. Admission is free.

Quilt, rug show
DURHAM – The Durham Historical Society will hold a quilt and hooked rug show/bake sale to benefit the Restoration Fund for Union Church. It will be held rain or shine, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Union Church, 744 Royalsborough Road, Route 136.
